Courts in Arizona’s “zero tolerance zone,” designated by “operation streamline,” hold mass hearings for suspected illegal immigrants. However it has been long rumored that the court proceedings neglect some back rights that the detainees hold.
The 9th District Court of Appeals in San Francisco has found the seam to this procedure. Courts in Arizona have not been notifying each individual of their rights and not explaining to them an example what a guilty plea is.
These are basic rights that America was founded on and is outlined in the Constitution. If rules such as this are forgotten in such important areas as Immigration then other more essential restraints and rules can also be easily forgotten. This non-compliance of such procedure elements by a court only suggests that they we not subjectively analyzing the material in the most complete and unbiased way possible. I believe that more of these newly implemented operations, such as this one, are of a new situation and volume. Therefore, courts often do not hold precedent towards these matters. Therefore it is extremely important that we keep the appeal process highways open and encourage re-examination by appeals courts.
